Bachelor of Unani Medicine & Surgery (B.U.M.S.) is an undergraduate medical degree in the field of Unani medicine and surgery. Unani is a branch of study of traditional medicine used for healing and health maintenance observed in South Asia. Unani medicine was born in the doctrines of the ancient Greek physicians but was developed and refined by the Arabs through systematic experiments. This system has originated from the Greek by the great physician “Hippocrates”. It is also known as the “Hikmat” or UnaniTibb Medicine. It has the 6000 years back history. This system refers to the Roman medication system developed by the Roman physician “Galen”. In the middle age era and by the development of this system, the Arabic and Persian physician have been adopted and flagged this system.

Unani Medicine also spelled Yunani Medicine (Arabic, Hindustani, Pashto and Persian) is a form of traditional medicine practiced in middle-east & south-Asian countries. It refers to a tradition of Graeco-Arabic medicine, which is based on the teachings of Greek physician Hippocrates and Roman physician Galen, and developed into an elaborate medical system in middle age era by Arabian and Persian physicians

BUMS Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be an Indian national. However, Non Resident Indian (NRI) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) are also eligible for BAMS admission subject to rules and regulations framed by Government of India.
The candidate should be at least 17 years old at the time of the admission.
The candidate should have passed the 10+2 from the Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other equivalent exam.
The applicant must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in 10+2.
The BUMS applicant must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry in 10+2. In case of OBC/MBC/SC/ST category, it is 40%.
The candidate must have qualified NEET UG 2021.

BUMS Duration of Course

B.U.M.S. is a degree that is considered completed in 5.5 years which involves 4.5 years of main course classes and 1-year internship.

BUMS Admission

Admission process will be happened on the basis of the rank obtained in entrance exam (NEET) by the candidate. After the declaration of NEET result, counselling process starts.
