Candidates those who wish to get admission in MBBS course will be able to apply only through the national level entrance exam NEET. There will be no entrance exam conducted by the state authorities and universities. NEET is a gateway to get admission in various specializations of UG medical courses. Candidates must also appear in AIIMS, JIPMER and INI CET entrance exam to get admission into these institutions and their associated campuses.

The screening process of NTA for MBBS admission is very strict and based entirely on merit in NEET exam. After announcing the NEET result, the Medical Counselling Committee (MCC) conducts the further MBBS admission process. NEET qualifying candidates can participate in the counselling rounds for admission in the participating colleges. Candidates must fill their choices for the colleges during the counselling process. For 85% state quota seats, the state medical authority will conduct the counselling process.

MBBS Eligibility Criteria

The applicant must be an Indian national. However, Non Resident Indian (NRI) / Overseas Citizen of India (OCI) / Persons of Indian Origin (PIO) are also eligible for MBBS admission subject to rules and regulations framed by Government of India.
The candidate should be at least 17 years old at the time of the admission.
The candidate should have passed the 10+2 from the Board of Higher Secondary Examination or any other equivalent exam.
The applicant must have studied Physics, Chemistry, Biology and English in 10+2.
The MBBS applicant must have secured a minimum of 50% marks in aggregate English, Biology, Physics and Chemistry in 10+2. In case of OBC/MBC/SC/ST category, it is 40%.
The candidate must have qualified NEET UG 2021.

MBBS Course Duration

The duration of MBBS course is 5 ½ years including a rotating internship of one year. The internship is mandatory, and one can complete the course only by completing an internship. The duration of MBBS academic course is 4 ½ years that comprises of nine semesters.
